Before you say "I do" to the paperwork
How much does it cost?
$20, flat. That covers your complete state-specific document package, the step-by-step filing guide, and the everything-else update checklist. No subscriptions, no upsells at checkout.
Do I need to go to court to change my name after marriage?
In most states, no — your marriage certificate is your legal authority for taking a spouse's name or hyphenating. Your questionnaire covers your state's specific rules, including cases (like some blended or brand-new surnames) that do require a court order.
How soon after the wedding can I start?
As soon as you have your certified marriage certificate, usually available from your county a few weeks after the ceremony. You can complete the questionnaire before then and have everything ready to go.
Can I take a hyphenated or blended name?
Hyphenating both names is allowed via marriage certificate in most states. Creating an entirely new blended surname sometimes requires a court petition — the questionnaire will tell you which applies to you and prepare the right documents either way.
What if my state isn't available yet?
We're expanding state by state. If your state shows "not available at this time," check back soon — we prioritize states based on demand.
