A name that finally fits.
Personal choice, family reasons, identity — whatever your reason, it's yours. Pick your state, answer a guided questionnaire, and get a complete court petition package ready to file.
About 15 minutes. $20 flat. Built for your state's exact requirements.
What your package will include
A name change by choice goes through the court — which means a petition, sometimes a hearing, and requirements that vary widely by state. We'll cover the whole path.
The full petition package
Every form your court requires — the petition, the proposed order, and any supporting documents your state calls for — completed with your answers.
Step-by-step filing guide
Where to file, what it costs, what to expect at a hearing if your state holds one, and how to handle extras like publication or background check requirements.
The everything-else checklist
Once the order is granted: Social Security, driver's license, passport, banks, employer, records — a personalized list in the right order.

Questions people ask about legal name changes
How much will it cost?
$20, flat — the same as every NowIntroducing package. That covers your complete state-specific documents, the filing guide, and the update checklist. Court filing fees are paid separately to your court and vary by state.
Do I need a reason to change my name?
You'll state a reason in your petition, but in most states nearly any honest reason is acceptable — courts mainly want to confirm you're not changing your name to commit fraud, dodge debts, or evade the law.
Will I have to go to a court hearing?
It depends on your state — some require a brief hearing, others grant straightforward petitions on the paperwork alone. Your filing guide will tell you what your state does and what to expect if a hearing is required.
What about publication and background check requirements?
Some states require publishing a notice of your name change in a newspaper, and some require fingerprints or a background check. Your questionnaire accounts for these, and your filing guide walks you through them where they apply.
When will my state be available?
Legal name change questionnaires are not available at this time. We're building state coverage now and prioritizing based on demand — check back soon.
